With the motto 'Sheikh Russell is a symbol of serenity, fierce and lively, fearless', 'Sheikh Russell Day - 2022' is being celebrated with due dignity in Bangladesh embassies and districts across the country on October 18 for the first time as a national day.  Today is the 59th birthday of Sheikh Russell, younger son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, younger brother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.  On this day in 1964, Sheikh Russell was born in Bangabandhu Bhavan, Dhanmondi No. 32, a historical monument.  On August 15, 1975, Bangabandhu and his family were killed by the hateful enemy of humanity, the Khataka Chakra.  Even baby Russell was not spared from the merciless bullets of the killers that day.  The killers brutally killed him along with other family members.  At the time of death, the child was in fourth grade at Russell University Laboratory School.
 On Sheikh Russell's birthday, Satkhira Collectorate School and College organized a discussion and prayer program.  Honorable principal of the institution Mrs. Jasmine Jahan ma'am and Mr. Kazi Arifur Rahman sir (Additional Deputy Commissioner, Revenue) were present on the occasion.
