The south is not good, the flood-affected people of the south are not good.
Floods mean misery, floods mean food shortages, water crises and various diseases. Many areas in the south are flooded, as well as the homes, lives, and future dreams of flooded children. Among the flooded areas are the ones mentioned today: Gabura and Padmapukur.
The embankments of Gabura and Padmapukur Union in the Sundarbans coastal Shyamnagar are under threat due to inflow of water into the locality through 4 points of Asashuni due to rising water in Kopotaksh and Kholpetua rivers. According to sources: The main source of income for the people of this region is white gold shrimp. Due to the floods, farmers have flooded innumerable shrimp farms. Crowds of thousands of Banavasi people in the shelters. There is not enough food, no potable water.
They also did not regret not getting enough food. They claim, they don't want relief, they want sustainable embankments. Many people are suffering from water scarcity. They regret having no drinking water - there is so much water all around, yet they can't drink. These victims suffer losses every year due to lack of remedy. As a citizen of the country-
I would like to draw the attention of the authorities in charge of these areas, my humble request--
Come forward very quickly to reduce the suffering of endangered people. Even if you can't pay for all the losses, come forward to meet their little demands.
The Banavasis have lost a lot and are locked under the open sky today. The key to their well-being, the key to turning around after the flood, the key to dedicating their children to the future is in your hands.
Filipe Filihia is a Tongan farmer. He was involved in both the breadfruit and papaya farmer-to-farmer technical exchanges that were conducted through the MTCP2 Programme. These exchanges opened his mind to the full possibilities of farming, improved his farming knowledge, and changed his farming practices.

He first learned how to grow papaya for export, and how to propagate breadfruit seedlings and prune breadfruit to picking height. He has gone on to learn about planting according to the season, for example, in Tonga you should plant your taro in November so that it gets plenty of water before the dry season sets in, and has learned many other farming tips and techniques. Two years after being planted, his breadfruit orchard is now ready to bear fruit, which will provide another source of income, and he has started to make cassava chips from his own cassava plant, adding value to this basic root crop.

The other big change for Filipe has been that he is now considered one of Tonga’s lead farmers, and farmers look to him for advice. He has become an asset to his farmer organisation and they make use of his skills for training other farmers. Not only is training other farmers very satisfying for Filipe, but it is also a very effective way of transferring skills and knowledge, and the other farmers in Tonga are benefiting as a result.

Through the training, he has received and the support of his farmer organisation, Filipe now grows about eight acres of cassava, two acres of taro, one acre of yams, three acres of corn, three acres of peanuts, 100 kava plants and 100 sandalwood trees, a lot more than he was five years ago. Many of these are new crops for him and provide additional income security for his family. In fact, his income has risen from around TOP 100 (Tongan paʻanga) or USD 44 per week in 2013 to around TOP 300 (USD 130) per week today.

This additional income means that he can pay his children’s school fees and meet his obligations to his family and his church. Life, in general, has become more comfortable and he has bought a vehicle. His family is happier as a result, and this makes Filipe the Farmer even happier. #
One of the traditions of hill agriculture is zoom farming. To the hill tribes, zoom farming is an inevitable part of their culture. Since ancient times, zoom farming has been the method of cutting the seeds of different crops at different times by putting the seeds of multiple crops in one hole. Paddy is one of the crops grown in this zoom. The hill people have chosen different local varieties from the different types of paddy that were born on the slopes of the hills long ago. Among the various rice varieties used in zoom farming, there are many variations in the color, shape and taste of rice and rice. Zoom farmers have been conserving these rice varieties for thousands of years. A variety of crops are now being introduced in the hills. Orchards are being established in many places. The area under cultivation of vegetables and spices is increasing. The number of people is increasing in the hilly areas. Zoom farming is also facing various problems today. As a result, various crop varieties used in zoom farming as well as hill rice varieties are under threat.

Paddy is the main crop of Zum field. Paddy occupies the lion's share of the zoom field. Sometimes the Jumeirah leaves other crops in the same hole as the rice plants. It can collect other crops at different times of the year and the paddy crop is brought together by cutting. Paddy seeds sown in May-June become suitable for cutting in September. The Jumeirah cut the rice with a special kind of knife called a 'knife'. Paddy obtained from Zum cultivation is the main source of food for Zumians.
