Masud Sumon: Transfersion International Bangladesh (TIB) executive director said there was corruption and irregularities in flood relief operations in the country. Iftekharuzzaman. Transparency International Bangladesh TIB conducted a survey on irregularities in relief operations in the country, including Cedar on the 27th, Ayala in the 27th, Roanur in the 27th. As part of this, the survey was conducted with transparency to distribute government relief to flood victims in July to September, following the floods this year.
TIB organized a press conference at the Midas Center, Dhanmondi, in the capital, to monitor the flood relief program. At the conference, Iftekharuzzaman said that the TIB survey showed lack of adequate shelter centers, lack of coordination in distribution of relief, lack of allocation compared to casualties and widespread irregularities and corruption in relief distribution.
Besides, the flood victims are not satisfied with the role of public representatives, including relatives, in the distribution of relief, said TIB Executive Director. The ministers’ disaster visits also meant that money was spent from the relief allocation.
