Garo in Mymensingh. Aboriginal Garods live in the forest areas of Mymensingh, Netrokona, Tangail and Sherpur district headquarters and upazilas of Greater Mymensingh. Garora now has the opportunity to pursue higher education for the benefit of World Vision, Caritas and various non-governmental organizations. They walk from school to college to university. They are doing a good job too. Yet there is a lack of them – onton. Their standard of living or economic status did not improve. Their place is a lot of trouble with the land. Meetings are held every year with tribals in Mymensingh. They caught the problem with the government. But this is not being resolved, the Garo tribal people complain. It is known that there are many indigenous people who have been living in the area for generations. But they do not have land documents. And it has been as much trouble. Somebody looking for some opportunity to overthrow them has fallen. Many of the indigenous people now think that it is not possible for them to reconcile with modern life because of the primitive matriarchal society structure. So they now want to build a patriarchal society.
