CATARATAS


Pocos fenómenos de la naturaleza resultan tan bellos y espectaculares como las cascadas, un accidente geográfico producido por la existencia de un desnivel considerable en el cauce de un río y que, por efecto de la gravedad, provoca que el agua caiga verticalmente. Las cascadas, llamadas también cataratas cuando arrastran un gran volumen de agua, se generan por la erosión de las rocas por donde discurre la corriente, normalmente en el cauce alto de un río, pero también pueden tener su origen en glaciares, terremotos, volcanes o por un fuerte corrimiento de tierras. Como no existe un sistema universal para su clasificación, para hacerlo suelen utilizarse características como su altura, su ancho o su caudal, así como por la forma que adopta el chorro de agua en su caída: en abanico, en línea recta, dando saltos en las rocas, entre otras. De todas las cascadas del mundo, quizás las más populares sean las cataratas del Niágara, situadas entre EEUU y Canadá, aunque existen muchas otras que pueden competir con éstas en atractivo y vistosidad, como por ejemplo, la CASCADA DE LA VIRGEN.

Fue uno de los destinos visitados este sábado 26 de marzo por el grupo de senderistas de La Victoria. Todos quedamos maravillados ante tanta majestuosa obra de la naturaleza. Disfrutamos de sus frías aguas y compartimos nuestra felicidad entre todos los presentes.

WATERFALLS


Few natural phenomena are as beautiful and spectacular as waterfalls, a geographical accident produced by the existence of a considerable unevenness in the course of a river and which, due to the effect of gravity, causes the water to fall vertically. Waterfalls, also called cataracts when they drag a large volume of water, are generated by the erosion of the rocks through which the current runs, usually in the upper bed of a river, but they can also have their origin in glaciers, earthquakes, volcanoes or by a strong landslide. As there is no universal system for its classification, to do so, characteristics such as its height, its width or its flow are usually used, as well as the shape that the water jet adopts in its fall: in a fan, in a straight line, jumping in rocks, among others. Of all the waterfalls in the world, perhaps the most popular are the Niagara Falls, located between the US and Canada, although there are many others that can compete with these in attractiveness and showiness, such as the CASCADA DE LA VIRGEN.

It was one of the destinations visited this Saturday, March 26, by the group of hikers from La Victoria. We are all amazed at such a majestic work of nature. We enjoy its cold waters and share our happiness among all those present.
